24 July 2007 - Pittsboro, NC

Two recent North Carolina screenings have left us encouraged and exhausted. Over 120 people came to a screening at the Galaxy Theater in Cary, organized by our friend Kit. It was a hoot, to see What a Way to Go on “the big screen”, and to hear it on their sound system. Following the screening was a half-hour long Q&A session in the theater. And then about 25 of us went over to a nearby Barnes and Noble and talked in circle until they kicked us out at closing.

The next weekend we screened the doc for 145 people or so at the UU church in Asheville, organized by our friends David and Jean and Richard. Forty five stayed afterwards for a lively circle discussion. It was heartening, to hear the many comments of thanks and encouragement. Our friends Doug and Walker took really good care of us, providing good food, warm beds, and caring support and conversation during our stay there. Two days later, at Malaprop’s, we read from our blogs and had another great circle with a dozen or so brave souls. It was at first for Malaprop’s: filmmakers reading from blogs, with nothing to sell!
