hey everybody this is todd

i hope you dont mind me writing ive been watching tim the last few weeks hes been knocking his head against the computer day and night getting his movie just right figuring out how to make menus for the dvd figuring out how to make the case and the cover and the label figuring out who to work with to make the dvds how to pay for it and get it done in time and how to get the stuff to them and all that and he hasnt been sleeping well I think because of the screenings coming up and all the deadlines and the news he reads and stuff

so I wanted to help I know one thing tim loves is to keep up with whats going on in the world and to share what he finds he used to have this email list that he sent tons of articles and reports and essays to and he just hasnt had time for that sort of thing any more so I though maybe while hes working on the dvd I could go through his inbox and check out the sites he visits and pass some of that along I think it would make him feel better even though Im not much of a writer ok so here I go

oh sorry about how hard this is to read I dont know how to fix it Im not even sure how Im doing this really I just go into a program and think what I want to say and it gets onto the page somehow but for some reason the punctuation doesnt come through even when I just think about punctuation like if I think of a period I dont get a period I get the word period maybe I need a plug in question mark ha ha ha exclamation mark see what I mean

so theres so much news I hardly know where to start theres the whole climate thing once again theres a new story about how its going faster than predicted and the weathers getting more extreme seasons are shifting which screws up the timing for all sorts animals and plants and the co2 thats going into the oceans is screwing things up for fish and crabs and snails and planktons and the deserts are spreading in africa and asia and thatll lead to more conflicts and unrest and migration and things like that food prices are rising as crops get wiped out and lakes are drying up and birds are disappearing and butterflies are getting churned up thats the sort of joke I know tim likes to make so I put it in for him

but seriously the climate thing is speeding up and getting really scary and even scientists are scared and theyre issuing warnings and stuff but even though theres like this incredible consensus now people still keep confusing the issue and talking from their fear and ignorance and what they want rather than how it is and the government is playing stupid games and the spin-doctors are lining up and the US is still acting stupid cutting funds for climate research while saying it wants to get serious about it which everybody knows is just pure bullshit or at least they should know that the same goes for exxon yeah right and the automakers who are saying that fuel efficient cars will be less safe like theyve never been to europe or anything and everybodys lining up with solutions some people think we need voluntary carbon rationing and others are in favor of rationing like in wartime some people think we need to focus on the political end of things and some think we need to focus on alternatives and conservation and some are sure that biofuels will fix things even though they wont and some think organic farming is the key and some think rock concerts will help and some think we need some high tech answer like sending our extra co2 into space and some think we should just all become robots and get off planet and things like that but most of these solutions are just focusing on one thing not the big picture not the deeper causes and most of them are about keeping things going pretty much as they are about serving the economy and rich people first and the environment and poor people as little as you can get away with its all about serving the present system and making war on the planet for suggesting that we follow some basic rules and everybody knows that any system that destroys more and more every year and grows more and more every year and uses more and more every year cant keep going right doesnt everybody know that

well its sure true that climate change has everybodys attention what with the wacky weather and what with that wacky weather getting even wackier but of course there are still those who doubt the whole thing even if they have to fake data to do it or just totally dont understand it or who get all upset with how mainstream science is so blind and unwilling to listen to outsiders which is hilarious because its not that long ago that climate change scientists were the outsiders but the real problem is that so many of these people are just focusing on one thing and not seeing all the other things that are going on like peak oil which is making more and more news in the mainstream and if you dont factor in the oil situation then none of your other ideas and solutions will make much sense all of these solutions to keep things going as they are are just like magical thinking theyre not related to reality its all about wishing and hoping like were just a bunch of kids hiding under the covers hoping the monster will go away instead of finding ways to prepare for a world with less oil and wars and more wars and even more wars and the collapsing housing bubble and then the collapsing economy as other countries pull away from us and not just preparing but maybe even finding some way to stop this monster before it kills everything I mean look its not like our government is going to be able to fix anything theres nobody thats going to come and scare the monsters away in fact the people were used to relying on to scare monsters for us have turned out to BE the monsters and theyre not going to make things easier theyre going to thrash around as they die and call us terrorists and get in the way of people just trying to survive and get ready for whats coming

theyre insane theyre acting out a death wish and our whole culture is following suit and its going to kill us and all the animals and plants and everything were caught in it and theres so many people which hardly anybody talks about and with the climate changing and the end of oil and competition for food and oceans dying and plastic everywhere theres way too many of us and that cant last it just cant

I gotta stop now tim has just asked me to look over the dvd cover design one last time hes gotta get it in the overnight fedex so they can get the dvds made in time for the tour I think hes beat hes exhausted and I get worried that hell get sick or something so Im going to help him and then make sure he puts the disc in the mail and then rests and doesnt do anything and stays off the computer for a while I may have to pull a sparkplug or two out of his laptop

I know he wants to write some more but maybe this will help fill the gap until he can I hope some of you read some of these articles theres a lot sorry I kinda got carried away its hard because when youre inside the computer you can read these things in no time at all and link them up so easily and I forget what its like to be in a body still and how long it takes to do things so only read a few of these so that you have time to go outside and stuff believe me once you cant feel the wind or the sun or the rain anymore its not so much fun so enjoy it now
